Completed Albums
Decayed Decayed(2007)
It's a record about getting old and looking back
Talking about hip-hop and rap
The sorry state of the world today
The horrible things we do and say
The way it will all return to dust
Entropy, decay, and rust
All ripped straight from daily life
February 2007 - 28 days and nights
The sound is modern and stripped-down
Minimal, distressed somehow
Bit-reduced, distorted, glitched
Clicks and buzzes, boom and hiss
...
Contemporary sounds visit the intersection of old-school rap (Run-DMC, Grandmaster Flash, Afrika Bambaataa) and early industrial dance (Nitzer Ebb, Suicide, Cabaret Voltaire).
Cyborg Love Songs(2008)
An electronic rock album product delivering nearly 40 minutes of listening pleasure.
Contents include thoughts on the quest for perfection and our relationship with technology. It is a concept album with an implied rather than explicit story.
"I like cyborg love songs - they're very precise."
Sounds like modern Depeche Mode.
Overcast(2009)
Anu delivers a modern electronic guitar rock record.
"A glitch Floyd dystopia" with slowcore, goth, ambient, and more traditional rock influences.
Influenced by The Church, Pink Floyd, Chameleons UK, The Sisters of Mercy, David Sylvian, Fennesz, Neil Young, Underworld, and more.
Programmed beats, distressed guitars, and vocals.
Reflection(2010)
"Bryan Ferry in Blade Runner" - a cinematic, stark, minimal, and restrained alternative record.
Influenced by Scott Walker, David Sylvian, Bryan Ferry. Non-traditional acoustic instruments, electric piano, and found percussion.
Unique soundscapes and quiet, deep vocals.
The Ghost Town(2011)
Anu heads West. Modernist stylings, oblique themes, and odd parallels combine to produce a Western-influenced alternative album.
Classic cowboy sounds. Spaghetti westerns. T.S. Eliot's "The Waste Land". Bay Area boom towns. The Mojave desert. Manifest Destiny. The closing of the American West.
Voice. Wind, dust, rust, sand and wood. Twangy Telecaster. Creaking and buzzing acoustic guitars. Prepared piano clunks and sighs. Synthesizers sing and thrum. Melodica. Electronic beats, shakers, and hand claps.
Techs-Mex. Cowbot. Clip-clop trip-hop. Downhome downtempo. Westronica.
